Microsoft will stop supporting Windows XP as of April of 2014. Experts are warning businesses if you are planning on sticking with Windows XP systems past this April 2014 date that you are opening yourself up to not only security risks, but lawsuits as well.
After the April 2014 date, Microsoft will no longer be issuing security updates for Windows XP users. This is going to leave many people vulnerable to hack attempts, viruses and breaching of customer data. You will be able to hide behind a firewall and anti-virus for a while, but once a vulnerability is exploited then there won’t be any security patch coming from Microsoft to plug this hole.
Not only will security issues effect Windows XP systems, but driver support from third party vendors will as well. HP, Epson, Brother and other printer manufacturers will most likely drop Windows XP support as well meaning that new printer you pick up won’t work on Windows XP.
Needless to say, running Windows XP past the deadline is akin to playing a game of Russian Roulette. The time to upgrade is now.
